ADLSN’s Africa Bwamkuu recently traveled to Mzumbe University in Morogoro, Tanzania to conduct in-person training with university staff. The primary objectives of the training were to (1) raise awareness and increase general understanding of current open source Digital Libraries (DL) practices, Integrated Library System (ILS), and Institutional Repositories (IR) and (2) to assess readiness and make recommendations for execution. It was an interactive workshop where Africa engaged with the staff to understand their current needs and situation in order to inform recommendations for next steps. The attendees engaged in a robust assessment process starting with ideation, moving through planning, implementation, management, and documentation.
ADLSN looks forward to continued work with Mzumbe University!
